The Hierarchical Dropdown List feature allows administrators to create dependent dropdown fields during candidate registration. Each dropdown level is linked to its parent, enabling candidates to select values in a hierarchical manner (for example, Country → State → City).
Navigation Path
Candidate Registration → Below Privacy Policy → Hierarchical Dropdown List
- Navigate to the Candidate Registration settings.
- Click on Edit button on top right side
- Add the required Hierarchical Dropdown List field.
- Click Download Sample Excel to download the template.
- Populate the template as per the required hierarchy.
- Upload the completed Excel file.
- Save the registration settings.
Excel Template Guidelines
When preparing the template, follow these guidelines:
| Requirement | Description |
|---|
| Two Columns per Level | For every hierarchy level, create two columns: LevelX and LevelX_Code (for example, Level1, Level1_Code, Level2, Level2_Code). |
| Level Codes | You may optionally assign custom alphanumeric codes (for example, IND, MH, KA) in the LevelX_Code columns. |
| Mapping Fallback | If the LevelX_Code column is left blank, the system maps the hierarchy using the text entered in the LevelX column. |
| Hierarchical Flow | Each row should represent a complete parent-to-child relationship. Do not leave blank cells between active hierarchy levels. |
Example
| Level1 | Level1_Code | Level2 | Level2_Code |
| India | IND | Maharashtra | MH |
| India | IND | Karnataka | KA |
In this example:
- India is the parent (Level 1).
- Maharashtra and Karnataka are child options (Level 2) that become available when India is selected.
Important Notes
- Download and use the provided Excel template to ensure the correct format.
- Maintain the parent-to-child hierarchy in each row.
- Custom level codes are optional but recommended for accurate mapping.
- If codes are not provided, the system uses the text values for mapping.
- Do not leave blank cells between configured hierarchy levels within a row.
