How to create a proctored Test?

Proctoring settings: Overview

This setting enables you to activate proctoring for the test, allowing you to configure the proctoring settings based on your needs. There are two types of proctoring available:

Manual Proctoring

With this option, a human proctor is assigned to authenticate candidate details and monitor their activity during the test. The human proctor oversees the exam session, ensuring that candidates adhere to test-taking guidelines and procedures.

AI based Proctoring

In AI-based proctoring, candidate verification and activity monitoring are conducted using artificial intelligence. AI algorithms analyze candidate behavior, including facial recognition, multiple face detection etc to detect any signs of cheating or irregularities during the test.

To Create a proctored test, follow the steps below: 

Step 1 : Create Test

  1. Click on the “Test Manager” Tab and then click on the “Test” button.
  1. Now click on the “Add” button which is on the right hand side of the screen.
  2. Then, add all relevant details such as Test name, category, total no. of questions, marks etc
  3. If the admin receives a popup indicating an existing test code, they can modify the code.
  4. Now click on “Next” to go to the next step.
Note: A template refers to the format in which the test will show to the candidate. Select any one as per your preferences.

Step 2 : Test setting

In this step scroll down and enable "Proctoring settings"
Below, you'll find explanations for each setting and its purpose 
Allow Proctoring: This option activates proctoring for the test. When enabled, certain settings below will be automatically activated.
Stream recording mode: If set to YES, the proctor will only have access to the live stream from the candidate's camera during the test. If set to NO, the proctor will be able to view the candidate's screen in addition to the live stream from their camera.
Enable Mic: Enabling this setting grants the proctor access to the candidate's microphone during the test, allowing them to listen to the candidate's audio.
Enable Location: Enabling this setting grants proctors the ability to track the current location of the candidate during the test.
  1. Location verification:  This setting allows proctors to verify the candidate's location. It is particularly relevant in the case where the proctor may need to confirm that the candidate is taking the test from an authorized location.
Room Sanitization: Before starting the test, candidates are required to show their entire room to the proctor. The proctor will then verify the candidate's room and assess whether it meets sanitization guidelines. Based on this assessment, the proctor will approve or reject the candidate to begin the proctored test.
  1. Set attempts: Enable this option to allow candidates to sanitize the room multiple times. You can mention the number of times a candidate is allowed to sanitize the room. For example: if the candidate fails to share a clear 360 degree view of the room they can reattempt and upload. The number given in the box will determine the times they can do so. For example: if set as 2 the candidate can attempt to upload room pictures/ videos twice.
  2. Allow or revoke test: Enabling this option will result in the test being terminated if any Unfair Means (UFMs) are detected during the test. However, if this option is left unchecked, there will be no consequences, and the candidate will be allowed to continue the test even if UFMs are detected.
ID Authenticate: 
  1. Require ID Verification Before Test: When this option is enabled, candidates are required to verify their ID before starting the test.
  2. Set Attempts: This setting allows admins to specify the number of times a candidate can attempt to authenticate their ID.
  3. Allow or Revoke Test: Admins can define the maximum number of times a candidate can verify their ID. For example, if the attempt count is set to 2, candidates can attempt to verify their IDs twice. If they fail the verification the first time, they have one more attempt remaining. They won't be allowed to verify their ID more than twice.
  4. Do you want to verify Profile Photo and Clicked Photo : Enable this option to verify the real time photo of the candidate with the profile photo 
Enable Unfair Means Detection for Proctors: Enabling this feature allows proctors to detect and record any Unfair Means (UFMs) triggered by the candidate during the test. Functionalities such as Multiple Face Detection (MFD), Face Mismatch (FM), and FNP will work only if the "ID Authenticate" feature is also enabled. ( This setting will be enabled by default )
  1. Set credibility score: 
  2. Use Credibility Score in Rank Generation : If this setting is enabled, a credibility score will be generated based on Unfair Means (UFMs) detected during the test. Admins can set a minimum credibility percentage requirement. If a candidate's credibility score falls below the specified score, they will fail.
  3. Credibility Percentage: This setting allows you to specify a credibility percentage. For instance, if set to 50, any candidate whose percentage falls below 50 will fail the test.
  4. Make it visible to the candidates: Enabling this option allows the live credibility score to be displayed to the candidates during the test.
Please Note: This feature is functional only if the Pass or fail settings are enabled in "End Test settings."
Allow proctor to pause the test: When this option is enabled, the proctors will have access to the “suspend” button which allows them to temporarily pause the candidate’s test for a specified duration. 
Enable secondary camera: Enabling this feature will prompt candidates, according to the provided instructions, to use both the front and rear cameras of their device to capture images of the place where they are taking the test. Verification will then start automatically, initiating secondary camera proctoring. It's important to note that candidates must scan a QR code to access the app or web link required to begin the test.
Escalation Matrix: The escalation matrix will allow the admins to determine the credibility score based on UFMs such as face detection, object detection etc or by directly setting a credibility score. 
  1. UFM: When selecting the UFM option, admins can set maximum thresholds for each parameter. If a candidate exceeds these thresholds, escalations will be flagged to the proctor. For example, if "multiple face detect" is set to 2, the system will notify the proctor if it detects multiple faces more than twice.
  1. Credibility score: With the credibility score option, admins can define a score that triggers escalations. For instance, setting a credibility score of 60 means any candidate scoring below 60 will prompt escalations to the proctor.
Please note: Proctors can decide whether to act on escalations by accepting or rejecting them. If an escalation is rejected, the candidate will not be allowed to continue the test.
  1. Make it visible to the candidates: Enabling this option allows candidates to view their credibility score during the test. This score will be displayed to candidates, and they will receive notifications if their score falls below the defined threshold.
UFM Matrix: This setting enables admins to assign weightage and risk level to each UFM. The credibility score of candidates will be influenced by these weightages. For instance, if the weightage for Face Mismatch is set to 20 then 20 points will be deducted from the candidate’s credibility score each time a
face mismatch occurs.
This is what each UFM refers to, you can accordingly set the weightage 
Face Mismatch: Detected when the candidate's facial features do not match those on record.
Multiple Face Detected: Detected when more than one face is detected during the test session.
Face Not Present: Detected when the candidate's face is not visible or not detected during the test.
Permission Revoked: Detected when the candidate revokes permissions such as screen sharing, microphone, and camera during the test.
Object Detected: Detected when the candidate uses unauthorized objects such as mobile phones or earphones during the test.
Screen Focus Lost: Detected when the candidate's screen focus shifts away from the test window.
Voice Detected: Detected when voices are detected, either from the candidate speaking or from background noise during the test.
Voice Muted: Detected when the candidate's microphone is intentionally muted or disabled.
Looking Away: Detected when the candidate looks away from the screen during the test.
Manual proctoring - Automatic compatibility: When this feature is enabled, manual proctoring compatibility will function automatically.


Auto suspend: This feature lets admins define when a warning notification should be given to the candidate.
  1. Warning: when this setting is enabled then if a candidate's credibility score falls below the defined threshold, they receive a warning notification. This serves as an initial alert to the candidate that their credibility is at risk.
  2. Suspend: When this setting is enabled, if a candidate's credibility score drops below the set threshold, their account will be suspended. Admins can specify the duration for which the candidate's account will remain suspended. During this time, the candidate won't be able to access the system.
  3. Terminate: In cases where a candidate's credibility score drops significantly and reaches a critical level as defined by the administrator, the candidate is immediately exited from the test.

Step 3 : Candidate Authentication:

After proctoring settings Click on the "Candidate Authentication" down arrow. 
Candidate Authentication:  From this setting, admins can activate authentication options and opt to receive event notifications in the event of any UFMs detected by our AI system.
  1. Face recognition: Enabling this setting activates face recognition. Candidates will be prompted to take a selfie before starting the test to verify their identity.
  2. Skip Authentication: This option bypasses the candidate's photo and ID verification at the proctor's end

Step 4: Add a proctor

Once you have done the test settings, go to the Proctoring Tab and then click on Proctor. If you have already added a proctor, you can skip this step. 

Follow these steps to add a proctor:
  1. Navigate to the "Proctoring" tab and then click on "Proctor"
  2. Click on the "Add" button
  3. Fill up the proctor's details and click on "Save" to save your settings. 
Note: You also have the option to import proctor details using an Excel file. 

Step 5 : Assign Proctor/Batch

Now, Navigate to the "Proctoring" Tab at the top blue Ribbon and click on test List. Here you need to assign proctors and batches.  


To assign proctor/batch follow the steps given below:
  1. Click on the three dots in front of the test. ( ref above image)
  2. Now, click on assign proctor/batch
  3. Select the streaming type as either Image or Video (note: some options may not be available on your account). This setting determines how the proctoring session will be stored in the system, either in an image/screenshot format or as a video.
  4. UFM Type: This setting determines how the system will store data when a UFM is detected, either in image or video format.
  5. Download UFM video: This option can be enabled when you want to download UFM videos of all candidates.
  6. Download Session Video: This option can be enabled when you want to download  the entire session's video of all candidates.
  7. AI Enable: Enable this option to conduct an AI-enabled proctored test. The system will automatically monitor and detect UFMs without requiring a human proctor's intervention.
  8. No. of candidate screen by Proctor: This option defines the number of candidate screens displayed to the proctor, such as 20 candidate screens per proctor. This setting is particularly important for a manually proctored test. However, you still need to specify the number of candidate screens per proctor for an AI-enabled proctored test.
  9. Assign Proctor: Here you can choose your proctor type 


  1. Automatic: In this option the candidates are automatically assigned to the proctor.
  1. Manually: In this option you need to manually select candidates and assign them to each proctor.
  2. Round Robin: This option refers to allocating candidates in a circular manner. This means sequentially assigning candidates to different proctors, ensuring that each candidate gets a proctor in rotation without any biases or preferences.
    Now click on the "Proceed" button and then select the proctor from the drop down and then on "Save"
