Is there any feature in ThinkExam to show dummy candidate data to real candidates, impacting their rank and average score? If yes, name the feature and explain briefly.

Yes, ThinkExam has a feature called Virtual Data. It allows admins to add dummy candidate records, which are shown to real candidates after test submission. This affects the total participant count and ranking displayed in the report.

What It Includes:

When virtual data is created:
A specific number of "dummy students" are generated.
Each dummy student is assigned marks between a minimum and maximum range defined by the admin.
Marks can be either whole numbers or decimals.

How It Impacts Candidate Ranks:

If you generate, say, 10,000 dummy students with high marks, real candidates may get pushed down in the ranking.
The Topper list might include dummy students.
The Average Score and Percentile values will also get skewed.

Follow the steps to create Virtual Data on the panel

Step 1:Login to Admin panel and navigate to Test manager module then in Test Section.

Step 2:Click on the three dots of the test in which the Virtual Data needs to be added and select Inset Virtual Data option.

Step 3:After clicking on the "Insert Virtual Data" option, a window will appear where the admin can add virtual data either by using the "Import .xls" functionality or by clicking on the "Add" button.

Step 4:Adding the Virtual Data

a)      Let’s say we are adding virtual data using the "Add" button. After clicking on it, a pop-up window appears where you need to enter the required values as prompted.

                 Explanation of Each Field:

          1.    Whole Number / Decimal Number

o  Whole Number: Dummy marks will be generated as integers (e.g., 45, 49).

o  Decimal Number: Dummy marks will include decimals (e.g., 45.7, 48.3).

          2.    Enter Min Marks Range

o  Lower limit of the marks range.

o  Example: If you enter 40, no dummy student will score below 40.

         3.    Enter Max Marks Range

o  Upper limit of the marks range.

o  Example: If you enter 50, no dummy student will score above 50.

        4.    No. of Dummy Student

o  Number of dummy student records to be generated.

o  Example: 10000 will create records for 10,000 dummy students.

        5.    Create dummy data (Button)

o  After filling all the fields, clicking this button will generate the dummy student performance data for the selected test.

b) Adding data with excel file

If the Admin will upload excel file they just have to upload the marks using excel file.

          Breakdown of the File:

·      File Type: .xls (Excel file)

·      Column A – "Total Marks": This column contains the scores randomly assigned to dummy students.

·      Rows 2 to 11: Represent 10 dummy students, with marks ranging from 2 to 10.

After the file is uploaded, virtual candidates and their ranks will appear in the report section, visible to all candidates.

Candidate Page

After submitting the test, candidates will be able to view the total number of participants in their report section.
