OCR & ICR in Verificare
Click on Character Recognition (Image shown below) and crop the area that needs to be captured.
In the Properties section, select the Type as required: OCR, ICR, ICR Alpha, or ICR Alphanumeric, depending on the field. Once the required type is selected, save the template.
OCR (Optical Character Recognition)
1. OCR in Verificare
OCR (Optical Character Recognition) is used in Verificare to read printed characters from scanned sheets. It helps extract information such as roll numbers, test codes, booklet numbers, or other printed fields present on OMR sheets.
Example uses in Verificare:
Reading printed roll numbers
Reading printed test codes
Extracting printed ID numbers from forms
Refer to the image below for your reference.
2. ICR in Verificare
ICR (Intelligent Character Recognition) is used to read handwritten characters from scanned documents. In Verificare, ICR helps capture handwritten information when candidates fill fields manually.
Example uses in Verificare:
Reading handwritten roll numbers
Reading candidate names written by hand
Processing handwritten survey or feedback forms
Solution and Requirements for ICR
The words should be bold and printed in a discontinuous (broken) font style.
The words must be written in CAPITAL LETTERS.
The OMR sheet should be scanned using Color Dropout functionality for accurate recognition.
Difference Between OCR and ICR in Verificare
OCR: Reads printed or typed text.
ICR: Reads handwritten text.
OCR is usually faster and more accurate for structured printed fields.
ICR requires better scan quality, as handwriting styles may vary.
